NoSQL Databases for Data Sciences

NoSQL databases for Data Sciences

The growth of the Internet that brought along with the large volumes of data the need to process and store this data in a timely and cost-effective way, has led to the adoption of the non-relational data models. This course introduces non-relational (NoSQL) data models and systems. It presents advantages and disadvantages of the different data architecture patterns. It covers Key-Value, Document, Graph and Column database models. Hands-on experience with a representative sample of open-source NoSQL databases will be provided. Upon completion, students should be able to design, develop, implement, and administer NoSQL Database structures in business environments.

This MasterCamp© entitled “NoSQL databases for Data Sciences,” offers a deep comprehensive introduction to non-relational data models and systems. You will learn about the various data architecture patterns, including Key-Value, Document, Graph, and Column databases, and gain hands-on experience with open-source NoSQL databases. Upon completion, you will be able to design, develop, implement, and administer NoSQL Database structures in business environments.

Learning objectives of the MasterCamp©

At the end of this course, students should be able to :

LO1.       Understand various NoSQL data models

LO2.        Understand various NoSQL systems and their features

LO3.        Evaluate NoSQL databases with each other and relational systems

LO4.        Design and build projects that use NoSQL databases

Prerequisites :  Distributed Systems, Relational Databases

My Story

Meet a highly accomplished individual with an impressive background in the field of Computer Science – I am a Senior Engineering Manager at LinkedIn. With over a decade of experience in the industry and academia, I have had the opportunity to work with some of the world’s leading organizations and contribute to groundbreaking research.

My career began with a stint in academia, where I served as a Full Professor at Telecom SudParis, part of Institut Mines-Telecom and the University of Paris-Saclay, France. After several years of teaching and research, I transitioned to the industry and worked as a Research Staff Member with IBM’s Almaden Research Center. Later, I joined LG Electronics’ Silicon Valley Labs as an Engineering Manager before finally settling at LinkedIn.

Throughout my career, I have authored more than 150 refereed articles, conference papers, and book chapters, along with numerous technical reports. I have also served as the chair of several international conferences and workshops and been a member of the steering and program committees of several others. Additionally, I regularly teach graduate classes and serve on Ph.D. Committees, further adding to my academic credentials.

With a PhD in Computer Science and Master of Science from the University of Nancy I (University of Lorraine), France, I am well-versed in the latest advancements and emerging trends in the field. I have also served as a project reviewer of European and French research funding programs, cementing my reputation as an expert in the field.
