My Story

Saidatou Dicko is a highly accomplished academic and professional with extensive experience in the field of business administration and finance. She is currently serving as the Director of the School of Fashion at the Université du Québec à Montréal (UQAM), a position she has held since January 2023. As the Director, she oversees the operations and strategic direction of the school, contributing to its growth and success.

In addition to her role as Director, Professor Dicko is also a Full Professor at UQAM, a position she has held since June 2019. She has made significant contributions to the university, both as a teacher and a researcher. With a focus on corporate governance and financial reporting, she has taught courses at the Bachelor’s and Master’s levels, supervised graduate students, and conducted research in these areas.

Professor Dicko’s academic journey includes various notable positions. From June 2017 to October 2021, she served as the Head of the Department in her field, demonstrating her leadership abilities and expertise in managing academic departments. Prior to that, she held the position of Professor at UQAM from June 2010 to May 2019. During her nine-year tenure, she excelled in teaching, supervising graduate students, and conducting research.

In May 2017, Professor Dicko was invited as a Visiting Professor at Université Paris Dauphine in France, where she shared her knowledge and expertise with international students. She has also participated in conferences and seminars, contributing to the dissemination of research and academic discourse.

Before embarking on her academic career, Professor Dicko gained practical experience in the field of finance and accounting. She worked as an Internal Auditor at Brasseries du Cameroun, where she was responsible for controlling production services, costs, and resources. She also gained experience as an Accountant Trainee at the Bank of Central African States, where she was involved in financial accounting, research methodology, and various other services.

Professor Dicko holds a PhD in Business Administration, which she earned from a combination of prestigious institutions including Université du Québec à Montréal, HEC Montréal, Concordia University, and McGill University. Her doctoral research focused on governance, financial information, investors’ decision-making, and international accounting norms. She also holds a Master’s degree in Accounting and a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting and Finance from Université du Québec à Montréal and Université de Ngaoundéré, Cameroon, respectively.

With her extensive academic qualifications, professional experience, and research expertise, Professor Saidatou Dicko continues to make significant contributions to the field of business administration and finance, shaping the education and knowledge of future professionals in the industry
