My Story

Philippe Lane is Professor Emeritus at the University of Rouen Normandy since March 2020. He has held several academic and diplomatic positions during his career. From 2016 to 2020, he was Professeur des Universités de 1ère classe en Linguistique française and Vice-President of International Relations at the University of Rouen Normandie. From 2012 to 2016, he was seconded to the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs as Counsellor for Cooperation and Cultural Action at the French Embassy in Jordan and Director of the French Institute in Jordan. Prior to that, from 2008 to 2012, he held the position of University Cooperation Attaché at the French Embassy in the United Kingdom.

He has also had academic engagements abroad, as a Visiting Professor at the University of Cambridge from 2009 to 2011, where he taught courses and seminars on French cultural and scientific diplomacy.

Philippe Lane has significant experience in the fields of French linguistics, cultural and scientific diplomacy, and international relations. He has held positions of responsibility at the University of Rouen, notably as Vice-President in charge of International Relations from 2000 to 2008 and as Director of the Centre d’Enseignement à Distance and the Département des Sciences du Langage et de la Communication. He has also worked as a lecturer in Communication Sciences at the University of Paris Nord.

Philippe Lane is the author of several publications in the field of cultural and scientific diplomacy, including “French Presence in the World, Cultural and Scientific Action” and “French Cultural and Scientific Diplomacy”. He has also participated in collective works and has been a member of scientific committees.

Recently, his research and study activities have included participating in thesis juries, directing theses, and contributing to the project on the history of the French Institute in the framework of the Centenary of the French Institute in 2022.

Separated they live in Bookmarksgrove right at the coast of the Semantics, a large language ocean. A small river named Duden flows by their place and supplies it with the necessary regelialia.
