This MasterCamp© provides a comprehensive introduction to geotechnical engineering, a branch of civil engineering that focuses on the behavior and properties of soil and rock in relation to construction and infrastructure projects. Participants will learn the fundamentals of geotechnical engineering, including soil mechanics, foundation design, and slope stability analysis.


Participants should have a basic understanding of civil engineering principles and mathematics, as well as proficiency in relevant software applications such as AutoCAD and Excel.

This MasterCamp© includes interactive lectures, case studies, and hands-on exercises designed to help participants apply their knowledge in real-world scenarios. Participants will have access to a dedicated online platform where they can interact with instructors and fellow learners, and receive personalized feedback and support throughout the course. Upon completion, participants will receive a certificate of completion from the course provider.

  • Participants will learn the principles and theories of geotechnical engineering, including soil classification, stress-strain relationships, and soil deformation. They will gain an understanding of foundation design and analysis, including shallow and deep foundations, and learn how to perform slope stability analyses. Participants will also learn about geotechnical instrumentation and monitoring, and gain knowledge of relevant codes and standards.

My Story

Professor Adel ABDALLAH is a highly accomplished civil engineer and geotechnical expert with a passion for advancing the field of soil mechanics and geotechnical engineering. Born and raised in Tunisia, Adel graduated from the prestigious National Engineering School of Gabès in 1993, where he laid the foundation for his engineering career. He continued his academic journey by obtaining a Master’s degree in Civil & Mining Engineering in 1995, followed by a Ph.D. in Geotechnical Engineering from the esteemed National Polytechnical Institute of Lorraine in Nancy, France, in 1999.

Since 2000, Adel has held the position of Associate Professor of geotechnical engineering at the University of Lorraine, where he has made significant contributions to the field. With his expertise in soil mechanics, geotechnical design, and numerical methods, he has actively pursued research in the Thermo-Hydro-Mechanical behavior of unsaturated soils. Utilizing advanced numerical modeling techniques, optimization of model parameters, and machine learning approaches, Adel’s work has shed light on the intricate behavior of soils under varying conditions. His research extends to areas such as soil-foundation interaction, thermo-active geostructures, and soil improvement, where he strives to find practical applications and innovative solutions.

In addition to his academic role, Adel also served as the Academic Dean at the Nancy School of Geology from 2012 to 2018, where he implemented competency-based learning in the Engineering Geology curriculum. His dedication to enhancing the education and professional development of future engineers has been widely recognized within the academic community.

Professor Adel ABDALLAH’s exceptional contributions to the field of geotechnical engineering, coupled with his commitment to academic leadership and innovative teaching methodologies, have solidified his status as a respected figure in the discipline.
